Stuffed Sour Bitter Melons

So about last night... I made some Stuffed Karelas (Bitter Melons). In our society (Pakistani) cooking them is considered a very tough task and I decided to cook them. Since a year I turned vegetarian I didn't eat them. I wanted them so bad. So, with my own 16 year old mind I thought to make up my own recipe and cook them. But DAng! I forgot to snap a picture! Here is what I did:

Ingredients For Stuffing:

  • 1 Medium Potato (Cut into small pieces and boiled)
  • 2 Medium Tomatoes
  • 1 Tsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tsp Tamarind Paste
  • 2 Cubes Cheese
  • 4 pinches Red Chilli Pepper Powder

Directions for Stuffing:

  1. Add Olive Oil in a pan and add potatoes and tomatoes in it.
  2. Add Salt, Garic Powder, Tamarind, Red Chilli Pepper Powder and Cheese.
  3. Stir and mash the potatoes.
  4. Stir for 5 minutes and add water if neccessary.
  5. Remove from fire and let cool.

Ingredients for Karelas (Bitter Melon):

  • 5 - 6 Medium Karele (Bitter Melon) - peeled, with a 3 inch cut so we be ble to stuff it, seeds taken out.
  • 2 Large Onions (Chopped)
  • 1 Cup youghurt.
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1/4 Tsp Curry powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Red Chilli Pepper
  • 4 Tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions:

  1. Add the stuffing to karelas and tie them with thread.
  2. Fry them in 2 Tbsp oil until yellow-green.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Add 2 Tbsp Oil in a cooking bowl and add onions in it.
  5. Add salt, curry powder, red chilli pepper and the remaining stuffing in it with 1/2 cup water.
  6. Cover and cook until water is reduced to almost no water.
  7. Add yoghurt and stir.
  8. Add 1/2 cup water.
  9. Add karelas and cover and cook until the desired thickness of the masala.
  10. Serve with roti bread or buns or spoons ;)

DON'T EAT THE THREAD :D

They were heck tasty and sexy!

Love,

xx
